Civil War Walking Tour
Join us each SATURDAY morning during June, July and August to take a unique view of historic Marietta and learn the history behind the neighborhood surrounding The Castle.
The Castle was built by Colonel Melvin Clarke who was killed at Antietam. Also once residing on Fourth Street, was General Rufus Dawes, whose son later became Vice President under Calvin Coolidge. Discover the many stories of Civil War activity going on in Marietta, many soldiers having lived in the area around The Castle. This Civil War Walking Tour begins at The Castle's Carriage House and covers approximately 1 mile in total distance. If your group consists of more than 6 people, reservations made at least a day in advance are greatly appreciated. For reservations or more information, call us at 740-373-4180. Tours are available ONLY on Saturdays throughout the Summer.
